Network 1 was established by a group of television professionals
from New Delhi and Mumbai, India. The objective was to create a
world class television consultancy specializing in news and current
affairs channels. It later diversified into independent television
production, TV presentation and technical consultancy. Today Network
1 has on its staff television professionals with expertise in all
relevant areas of television programming and management. The group
has a collective experience of over seven decades in the field of
television. All members have worked in all the leading television
channels of the country – national Broadcaster Doordarshan, Star,
NDTV, Zee, Sahara, Channel 7, TV Today and Times TV. In 2005,
Network 1 launched an international news and infotainment channel in
the US .
In 2002 Network 1 launched Sahara Samay Rashtriya (24 hour Hindi
news channel). And mapped out the broad content matrix for its
regional news network. The situation involved the launch of a
network from a ground zero situation. Members of Network 1 have been
involved in the launches of three other television channels - NDTV-Star
News(1998), Times TV (2005) and Channel 7 (2005).

Network 1 is a complete solutions provider for television channels.
With experience in launching and operating television channels to
executing turnkey projects, the consultancy has today diversified
into professional training and education. The Network 1 Institute of
Media Studies, Chandigarh was established in 2004 and has completed
two very successful years. This year the school has launched masters
and bachelors degrees besides short certificate courses.

Shireen
 She
has over 16 years of experience in TV and print journalism and TV
station management. Shireen has been part of the launch of two
television channels and has worked with six different television
channels. Shireen started her career as a print
 journalist
with the Times of India and then moved on to The Economic Times.
From presenting and reporting to handling the on air look of
channels, production values, packaging and management of personnel
and resources, Shireen was instrumental in the launch of the
television channel Sahara Samay and has worked with six different
television channels including Star, Zee, NDTV, Doordarshan, Sahara
and TV Today. She acts as a premier anchor
who did several location based shows that added immense value.
Arup Ghosh
 Arup
has over 24 years of experience in print and TV journalism. He has
been part of the launch of three 24 - hour television channels. He
spent 13 years working for the top newspapers including Hindustan
Times and Times of India. He started his
 television career as
a correspondent with NDTV and was in the core team of
journalists/presenters who launched the Star News channel and worked
for the channel for six years. He was the head of Sahara Samay
Rashtriya. He has presented special shows and covered events across
the world and interviewed all the national leaders. From Sahara he
moved on to Channel 7 where he joined as Director, News. He took up
the assignment of launching a new and eminent, 24-hour English
language news channel, NewsX in February last year. The launch of
NewsX as the fresh face of news from India had been delayed by
several months and this was making the investors restive. He
achieved this feat within six weeks of coming board.In the process,
NewsX has found its idiom in writing and presenting news. NewsX has
also attained attributes that set it clearly apart from the rest of
the English news channel on the air. NewsX has also made a place for
its news features and current affairs. He has handpicked every
single key resource in the Newsx team in the past year and deployed
them as an extension of my creative capability.
Sundeep Misra
   He
has more than 15 years of print and TV journalism experience behind
him. He started his career as a sports journalist and went on to
work with all the leading publication like the Indian Express, The Asian Age and India Today. Today he is acknowledged
as one of the leading sports journalists in the country apart from
being an authority
on Hockey. He has covered several international tournaments like
Cricket World Cups, Olympics, World Cup Hockey, World Cup Soccer, F1
Racing as well as countless national sports events. Sundeep has
worked as the sports editor of Sahara Samay Rashtriya. He now
manages the Network 1 Institute of Media Studies based in Chandigarh.
He also runs one of the leading web sites on Indian Hockey,
www.indianhockey.com .
He was the sports editor of Newsx and he introduced programming of a
high standard that won sponsorship and awards.
Kamal Dixit
 The technical head of the consultancy, Kamal has worked for over 20
years in television. His experience includes working with leading
companies like TV Today, NDTV, Sahara TV and Times TV. He was a
pioneer at Newstrack (TV Today), establishing the production values
and maintaining quality control. He has been part of the launch of
television channels and has been responsible for the news
automation, play out and outdoor broadcasting operations. Kamal
played a big role in the technical division of Sahara Samay and went
on to be Head of News Systems (Technical), Times TV. His area of
specialization is workflow design and management.
Mohit Gopal
He sailed with P&O shipping as a navigator before leaving to join
the post graduate program at IIM Ahmedabad. From campus he joined
the International Finance Corporation (World Bank) and worked on
projects and assignments in diverse sectors such as Manufacturing,
Power, Infrastructure and Pharmaceuticals before starting his own
venture. He has strong skill sets in Financial Modeling and
Planning.
Associate (Distribution):
Shivani Pratap Singh
 Over
8 years in Satellite, Broadband and Cable industry with in-depth
knowledge of Distribution and Trade Marketing, Shivani has been
deeply involved in the development of Broadband and Satellite
Channels, holding a key role in the Planning Committee to devise
initial plans, procedures and implementation. With the channel Zoom
he was primarily responsible for a profit centre with target revenue
of 50 Million (INR) with a C&S base of 4.4 million, planning and
implementation of marketing and promotional strategies for the
region, responsible for the regions promotional budget, liaison with
the agencies and sales promotions including tactical promotion for
the channel’s promotional events.
He successfully launched three satellite Channels for the Sahara
group and his job entailed working with a cross section of Multi
system operators, agencies and Corporate thereby ensuring the
visibility and carriage of the Channels in the TRP towns. Earlier
with the Zee network he developed the broadband network with optic
link in the Northern region, primarily in the states of Punjab,
Haryana, J & K & Chandigarh. Shivani has also provided consultancy
services for the DTH platform at an international level.

Rod Fairweather
 Rod has worn diverse hats throughout his high-voltage, energetic
career. He has extensive experience at building, motivating and
running teams. Excellent communication skills both at board level as
well as with staff, combined with a reputation for “rolling up
sleeves” and being visibly determined to achieve strategic aims, he
has delivered a range of projects that have been strong on
technology as well as human resource. Rod has an impressive track
record both as a technical and editorial consultant who has operated
extensively in the UK, Europe and India.
As a freelance consultant director, Rod worked on the following
projects : GMTV, B Sky B, VH-1, TNT, MTV, C5, ITN, LNK (Lithuania),
TCS (Singapore), NDTV, Doordarshan (India) Star TV (HK). In India,
Rod played a very important role as consultant with NDTV during the
launch of Star News in its original form. His overall role has
covered a range of areas, including programme purchasing, defining
desired audience profiles, clarifying roles and goals for
departments, through to establishing news gathering and editing
techniques and live transmission systems. Rod was also
with the Harris Corporation (formerly Encoda Systems) from 1999 and
he set up and ran a highly automated commercial digital transmission
services (24/7) for a Scandinavian client. He also provided
worldwide support across a variety of digital play out systems. The
play out operation has successfully grown from 5 to 17 channels. |
